Description

The HI99556 is an infrared and contact thermometer designed to measure both surface and core temperatures for the food industry. With an external probe, a quick, one-second infrared response time, a HOLD function, and battery life indicator, this thermometer is an ideal solution for temperature measurements in the food industry. There are two models of the HI99556 thermometers, each offering a different measurement range, resolution and option for an external probe. The HI99556-00 covers a temperature range from -10 to 300°C with 1°C resolution, while the HI99556-10 covers a temperature range from -20.0 to 199.9°C with 0.1°C resolution. The HI765PW probe offers core measurements that cover a temperature range from 40 to 150°C.

The Infrared and Contact Thermometer for the Food Industry – HI99556 is a durable meter that can be used throughout the food industry. The HI99556 offers an external temperature probe and features such as a quick, one-second response time, HOLD function, and Hanna’s Battery Error Prevention System (BEPS) that will shut the meter off when the battery power is too low for an accurate measurement.

As an infrared thermometer, the non-intrusive nature of the HI99556 is particularly attractive in the food industry since it translates itself into substantial savings by leaving products intact, especially those sealed or pre-wrapped. This type of non-intrusive measurement is also useful when the surface temperature is high, for difficult-to-reach places, or hygiene requirements must be followed.

As a contact thermometer with the HI765PW external probe, the HI99556 is able to check the internal temperature in addition to the surface measurement. By simply attaching the NTC thermistor probe, the meter becomes a convenient, 2-in-1 infrared-thermistor thermometer.

•  Emissivity is the ratio of infrared radiation emitted by an object to that emitted by a perfect black body at the same temperature.
•  The HI99556 was designed to measure the temperature of objects with an emissivity of 0.95, which is characteristic of most objects and surfaces being measured.

HI765PW Thermistor Probe
•  The thermometer accepts this external NTC thermistor temperature probe to allow for core measurements in addition to surface measurements.
•  Measurement selection between the external probe and infrared sensor is simple through a dedicated button on the face of the meter.

HOLD Function
•  The HOLD function freezes the display to allow the user time to record readings when taken in hard to reach places.

Low Battery Indicator
•  When the battery level is below 10%, a warning symbol will blink to indicate low battery condition.

Optic Coefficient
•  The optic coefficient is the distance between the sensor and the measured object is an important factor in infrared measurement.
•  With a 3:1 relationship between the distance and object area, the HI99556 can measure an area with a diameter that is one-third of the distance between the sensor and the object.
