API hydrometers are manufactured specifically for the testing of oil and petroleum related products as recommended by the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM), they are made in accordance with national and international standards and can be supplied with Works or UKAS Certified Calibration Certificates traceable to National Standards. Available in either long or short form calibrated @ 60°F scales are based on the formulae Degrees A.P.I. Baumé = 141.5 -135
